Menno de Jong, Marion Koopmans, Theo Verheij and Ab Osterhaus did a great job at the PREPARE Postgraduate Course on ‘Emerging infectious diseases and pandemics. Gernot Rohde (CAPNETZ) co-chaired a Hot Topic Symposium on pandemics, sponsored by PREPARE. Speakers included Prof Nikki Shindo from WHO, Dr Pasi Penttinen from ECDC, Prof Sarah Gilbert from Oxford Univ on Ebola vaccine fast track development, and Dr Randall Hyner (Duke Univ, USA, prev WHO) on Behaviour change and communication of messages during a pandemic.
