In order to be able to rapidly initiate meaningful clinical research of any kind, in response to any kind of severe ID outbreak, an up-and-running pan-European clinical network is indispensable. PREPARE will establish or link with networks of clinical sites across Europe for Primary Care (based on the GRACE/TRACE network), and Hospital care (based on the COMBACTE, CAPNETZ, ESICM, PENTA and SERGAS networks).

These networks combined cover the full breadth of clinical care from primary care to hospital wards to ICUs, from GPs to ID specialists and paediatricians. Through inclusion of the international clinical coordinating centres (ICCC) of these networks as partners to PREPARE, PREPARE secures the long-term access to and involvement of a European wide clinical research network of unprecedented size and scope.
